Now [00:01:00] I'd like to share that I believe everyone is welcome to have their own opinions, but I'm here to unpack recent events that remind us of the importance of diversifying our marketing efforts. So let's get started.

Just recently, we witnessed significant disruptions in the social media landscape. A widespread outage hit Facebook and Instagram on March 7th, affecting users globally primarily with login issues. The outage peaked around 10:30 AM Eastern time, and it left hundreds of thousands of reported issues. Metta quickly addressed the problem, attributing it to issues with login sessions, and thankfully services were restored later that day.

And this isn't the first time that this has happened to Metta, which has affected Facebook and Instagram. But the digital drama didn't end [00:02:00] there. Right after the house of representatives passed a bill targeting TikTok driven by national security concerns over user data. This legislation could force a nationwide band. The future of TikTok in the United States remains uncertain.

These events serve as a stark reminder of the volatile nature of social media platforms. That's why I can't stress enough the importance of your website. It's your digital home base, a place where you have full control. And email and text lists are invaluable assets that you also own.

They're a direct line to your audience, unaffected by social media algorithms or outages. How can we craft a marketing strategy that withstands the test of time and technology? The key is diversification. Avoid relying solely on social media for [00:03:00] your marketing efforts. Instead, spread your presence across multiple platforms.

This approach ensures that if one platform experiences issues, your business's digital presence isn't completely halted. Utilize social media smartly. It's an excellent tool for broadening your reach and engaging with your audience, but it shouldn't be the entirety of your marketing strategy. Actively encourage your social media followers to deepen their connection with your brand through your owned channels.

Prompt them to sign up for your newsletter or to explore your website for more information.

Moreover, maintaining backups of your content is crucial, whether it's images, videos, or text based posts, having a repository of your digital assets ensures you're ready to face any unforeseen digital disruptions head on. This practice [00:04:00] not only safeguards your content, but also provides you with a wealth of resources that can be repurposed across different platforms.

To wrap up, Today's digital landscape is ever changing. Outages and legislative battles remind us of the importance of a diversified marketing strategy by focusing on what we can control our websites and our databases. We can navigate these digital disruptions. I encourage you to take a moment to review your current marketing strategy.
