The ChatGPT Process That Changed How I Create Content

Today I'm pulling back the curtain on the exact workflow I use to plan, create, and polish content using ChatGPT. This is the same process that saves me hours and keeps me consistent. As well as helps me create content that sounds like me and not a robot.

 I've been fortunate over the years, I've taught the same approach to dozens of clients and business owners who felt stuck, inconsistent, or just plain overwhelmed with content. Once they saw how it all fits together, starting with something very important that I call pre-baking the oven.

Now, the first thing I do is always the same. I set the tone. Before I ask ChatGPT to write anything, give me feedback or ideas on anything, I take the time to tell it who I am, who I serve, and how I speak.

You've heard me talk about this before. This is what I call pre baking the oven. Think of it like this. If you walked into a bakery and you order a cake. You expect them to have the oven turned on first, right? The same thing here. If [00:03:00] ChatGPT doesn't know you, it cannot help you properly. I use the custom instructions feature inside of ChatGPT and feed it things like a short brand description, who my ideal audience is, and I also share with it key tone words like clear, confident, conversational. I also take the time to share with it, website copy, and maybe even blog post that I've written.

I take the time to share quite a bit of content before I ever ask it to help me in any way, shape, or form.

Now, once that's all in place, you can actually start [00:04:00] cooking. Now, before we jump into the writing part, I use ChatGPT to think with me, not for me. This is where I ask questions like, what are five timely topics my audience cares about right now?

What questions do clients ask that I could turn into a reel or a post? What would a weekly content plan look like for a service based business like mine? This helps me zoom out and choose what to focus on before I start writing ChatGPT acts like a strategic brainstorming partner. It's one of my favorite things about AI, but only, this only works because I took the time [00:05:00] to share with it about my business first.

Now, once I pick a direction, I move into writing mode. Now that ChatGPT becomes my assistant, I'm ready to go. I've already set the tone and I've shared my brand voice.

Then I can say something like, write a short email in my voice that invites people to download my new lead magnet, or I would say create a script for a sixty second reel based on this idea. And I insert the idea , and it gives me a solid first draft. That sounds. Most of the time, 78 to 80% like me, I'm not starting from scratch, which can take up so much of your time.

Now, the last step is [00:06:00] key. You want to spend time refining what AI gives you. So if ChatGPT helps me beat the blank page and organize my thoughts. Great, but I always take the final step to review all of the words in detail, remove any overused words, add personal stories or phrases, and I check for clarity and how it flows.

This is where you add your magic. It's still your voice. Your message, ChatGPT just helped you get there faster.
